The New Quantum Age
Professor Alain Aspect, is one the leaders in the field of quantum optics and atomic physics. He explored experimentally situations in which the predictions of quantum mechanics are far from being intuitive. In particular by showing that Bell's inequalities are violated, he verified experimentally the standard interpretation of quantum mechanics. For his work he was awarded the CNRS 2005 Gold Medal, the Max Born award of optical society of America as well as other prizes. Professor Aspect is member of the National Academies of France and the US.
